Some questions aren’t really questions — they’re puzzles with five moving parts.
A natal chart cross-referenced against current transits, Human Design gates, a Tarot
spread, and the I-Ching hexagram for the day. That’s not something you can answer
off the top of your head. It’s something you have to actually hold together before
speaking.
Claude Opus now does exactly that in Dreamlens. With thinking enabled, the model
works through the full structure of a question — the tensions, the connections, the
layers — before writing a single word. The answer arrives assembled, not improvised.
This is meaningfully different from GLM’s thinking mode. Opus uses adaptive thinking:
it scales the depth of reasoning to what the question actually demands. A simple
question gets a quick answer. A complex one gets the full treatment.
That matters because Dreamlens questions are rarely just a request for one fact.
They often ask the model to read across several symbolic systems at once: what a
transit is pressing on, what a chart pattern is trying to express, what an oracle
adds to the emotional tone, and where all of that points in plain language. Opus is
now better able to keep those threads in view instead of flattening them into a
list of separate observations.
Here’s what that looks like in practice. The Events page
shows upcoming Hamburg school astrology events — and hitting Insight on a dense cluster
of them produced this:

A lot of simultaneous symbolism to hold together. That’s exactly where thinking shows
its value.
How to use it
Open Settings, choose a Claude Opus model in the chat model or discuss model section. You will see a thinking option — turn it On. You can also switch it directly from the model menu on the Chat page. Once enabled, Opus decides how much thinking the question actually needs.
Best for: multi-system readings, synastry, transits over a natal chart, anything
where the answer should connect several symbolic layers rather than address them one by one.
Notes
Available for Opus 4.8 and Opus 4.6. Other Claude models (Sonnet, Haiku) continue
to work as before — no regression, just no adaptive thinking layer.
